About Big Ten Rentals
In a University of Iowa dorm room in 1981, Brian DeCoster rented out an extra refrigerator with the $50 purchase of a used compact refrigerator. The following year, the inventory grew to 6 fridges. By 1986, the inventory had grown to include 100 refrigerators and microwaves and we were providing free delivery from a larger apartment. It was this year, 1986, that Big Ten Rentals became incorporated and expanded the inventory to include tents.
Today, we operate from an 11,000-sq. ft facility in Iowa City. A 6,000 sq ft warehouse in West Branch holds seasonal equipment, and a large storage warehouse in Cosgrove is in heavy use during the busy tent season.
Although Big Ten Rentals still rents the refrigerators, with over 400 in stock, our focus has adapted to provide year around services for many types of niche needs.
Our vast tent inventory places us among the top providers of quality tents in Eastern Iowa. Our inventory includes the largest and most versatile tents in the industry. We can accommodate nearly any situation. References include; The White House, ACT, Proctor and Gamble, The University of Iowa, Lady Luck Casino, Dubuque Diamond Jo Casino, President Riverboat, A Taste of Iowa, The Quad City Air Show, Iowa City Jazz Fest, Iowa Arts Fest and many more.
We are also the largest provider of Interactive Entertainment in the state. Over 6 years ago Big Ten Rentals was the first in Iowa (and one of the first in the country) to introduce Sumo Wrestling immediately following the premiere on the Tonight Show. We have consistently been the leader in this market with over 20 cutting edge interactive inflatable games, carnival equipment, and more.
